Electric versus Diesel
My vote is for diesel or rather some sort of combustion engine (such as a turbine) or even a hybrid rather than pure electric. There are some good arguments for electric buses, but the main problem with electric buses are the electric lines. The problem with the electric lines is twofold. First, they are another piece of infrastructure that must be built and maintained; they are another possibly weak link in the chain. The second problem is that buses can't pass each other on a line, so if one bus dies, the rest just stack up behind it. Prior to the new breed of diesel engines, there was good argument for keeping these smoke-belching buses off the streets, but not anymore. The new European breed of diesel engines are much more cleaner and efficient, and there aren't any good reasons not to use them.
